Denton Herb Society is an educational and informational organization whose mission
is to teach, learn, and share information about herbs with others.
Denton Herb Society was co-founded by Theresa Page and Raquel Bryson who are both
active members of the Texas Master Naturalist program. The idea of starting Denton
Herb Society was conjured up after attending the Fort Worth Herb Society meeting.
We both thought it would be a great idea to have a more local setting for bringing
people together who share an interest in herbs.
Denton Herb Society offers monthly presentations on herbal topics at the North Branch
of the Denton Public Library. The meetings are held from 10:00 AM until Noon on the
first Saturday ofevery month except December. These presentations are open to the
public and are always free of charge.
Our presentations are given by guest speakers who have expertise with their topic.
It has been Denton Herb Society’s good fortune to find great speakers who offer varied
herb-related topics, and feedback from attendees has been very positive. Speakers
are not allowed to express any type of commercial interests with their presentations.
Also, attendees are encouraged to participate with questions or their own personal
knowledge during the presentations.
The topics that have been discussed during our public presentations include the culinary
and medicinal properties of herbs, the preservation and drying methods of herbs,
and other topics related to herbs such as composting, container gardening, and wild
It is a goal of Denton Herb Society that after people attend the presentations, they
gain new knowledge that can be used and shared with others.
